A.R.T Clinic

The clinic is responsible for HIV care services; offering HIV counseling and testing, prevention of HIV acquisition and transmission and manages opportunistic Infections in people living with HIV AIDS.

The clinic has a team that longs to offer psycho – social support to HIV victims and also reduce mother to child transmission after birth thereby creating an HIV free generation.

Activities Carried Out

HIV counseling and testing services
Health Education talks for the clients in HIV care
Antiretroviral treatment for people living with HIV.
Outreach activities for HIV counseling and testing
Training of staff’s in HIV care and updates through Continuous Medical Education (CME)
Providing prophylactic medication “Post Exposure Prophylaxis” to those Exposed to HIV and AIDS
Psychosocial support

Benefits of the Clinic to the Community

The community has been sensitized about HIV and AIDS and all the myths about HIV have been addressed.
People living with HIV/AIDS receive treatment and management, health education on different topic such as Adherence, positive living, stigma, disclosure and many more.
Through community out-reaches, people are tested for HIV and those found positive start their treatment on antiretroviral therapy (ARV’s)

Success recorded

There has been an increase in the number of people initiated into HIV care since 2009 to 785 excluding those who have died and transferred out (gone to other hospitals)
Most of the clients are suppressing their viral load (little amount of HIV virus in the blood)
Mothers who are HIV positive and on treatment are delivering babies free of HIV due to proper management.
Health Education done has helped to reduce greatly the stigma associated with HIV AIDS.
Staffs have been trained in HIV / AIDS through workshops and Continuous Medical Education (CME).
